RULES FOR LIVING
Deuteronomy
6:5-13
And thou
shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these
words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine
heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy
children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in
thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when
thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt
bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be
as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write
them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. And
it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought
thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to
Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and
goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses full
of all good [things], which thou filledst not, and wells
digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive
trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have
eaten and be full; [Then] beware lest thou forget the
LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt,
from the house of bondage.
Thou shalt
fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by
his name.
Ephesians
4:22-24
That ye put
off concerning the former conversation the old man,
which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And
be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put
on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness.
Galatians 5:22
But the fruit
of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
GAL 5:18
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not
under the Law.
I John 1:5-9
This then is
the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto
you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at
all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and
walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if
we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus
Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say
that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth
is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and
just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.
John 13:12-17
So after he
had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and
was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I
have done to you?
Ye call me
Master and Lord: and ye say well; for [so] I am. If I
then, [your] Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye
also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given
you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not
greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater
than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy
are ye if ye do them.
Joshua 1:6-11
Be strong and
of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou
divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto
their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very
courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to
all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn
not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that
thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book
of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest
observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then
thou shalt have good success.
Have not I
commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not
afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God
[is] with thee whithersoever thou goest. Then Joshua
commanded the officers of the people, saying, Pass
through the host, and command the people, saying,
Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall
pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land,
which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
II Peter 3:18
But grow in
grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever.
Amen.
I Peter 5:6-11
Humble
yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that
he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon
him; for he careth for you.
Be sober, be
vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom
resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same
afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are
in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called
us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye
have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish,
strengthen, settle [you]. To him [be] glory and dominion
for ever and ever. Amen.
Proverbs 8:10-11
Receive my
instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than
choice gold. For wisdom [is] better than rubies; and all
the things that may be desired are not to be compared to
it.
Proverbs 4:20-23
My son,
attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the
midst of thine heart. For they [are] life unto those
that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy
heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues
of life.
Romans 12:1-21
I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that
good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I
say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that
is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than
he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as
God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
For as we
have many members in one body, and all members have not
the same office: So we, [being] many, are one body in
Christ, and every one members one of another. Having
then gifts differing according to the grace that is
given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy]
according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, [let
us wait] on [our] ministering: or he that teacheth, on
teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that
giveth, [let him do it] with simplicity; he that ruleth,
with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with
cheerfulness. [Let] love be without dissimulation. Abhor
that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
[Be] kindly
affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in
honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business;
fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope;
patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to
hospitality.
Bless them
which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with
them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. [Be]
of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high
things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise
in your own conceits.
Recompense to
no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight
of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you,
live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not
yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it
is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the
Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he
thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap
coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but
overcome evil with good.
RIGHTEOUSNESS
I Corinthians
15:34
Awake to
righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the
knowledge of God: I speak [this] to your shame.
Isaiah 32:17
And the work
of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of
righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Matthew 5:6
Blessed [are]
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for
they shall be filled.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 10:41
He that
receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall
receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a
righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall
receive a righteous man's reward.
Philippians 4:8
Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things
[are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever
things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely,
whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be]
any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these
things.
Proverbs 2:20
That thou
mayest walk in the way of good [men], and keep the paths
of the righteous.
Proverbs 14:34
Righteousness
exalteth a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to any
people.
Proverbs 28:1
The wicked
flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as
a lion.
Proverbs 15:29
The LORD [is]
far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the
righteous.
Psalms 1:1-6
Blessed [is]
the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the
seat of the scornful. But his delight [is] in the law of
the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of
water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his
leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper. The ungodly [are] not so: but [are] like
the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the
ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in
the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth
the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly
shall perish.
Psalms 64:10
The righteous
shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and
all the upright in heart shall glory.
Psalms 106:3
Blessed [are]
they that keep judgment, [and] he that doeth
righteousness at all times.
Psalms 112:4
Unto the
upright there ariseth light in the darkness: [he is]
gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
I Thessalonians
5:22
Abstain from
all appearance of evil.
Romans chapter 6
the law
14
For sin shall not have dominion
over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then?
shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but
under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not,
that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto
death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be
thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have
obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was
delivered you.
18 Being then
made free from sin, ye became the servants of
righteousness.
19 I speak after
the manner of men because of the infirmity of your
flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to
uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now
yield your members servants to righteousness unto
holiness.
20 For when ye
were the servants of sin, ye were free from
righteousness.
21 What fruit
had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed?
for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being
made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have
your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages
of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
